The all new Mazda3 – Kodo in nature and design.
While the recent release of Mazda 6 heralded the arrival of a new generation of Mazda, the public launch of the new Mazda3 confirms Mazda’s continued commitment to be leaders in design and innovation. The Mazda3 is the third model to incorporate Mazda’s KODO design language which at its heart is the desire to express dynamic motion in every detail.
The new Mazda3 has been designed with its compact cabin positioned as far back as possible to extenuate its sporty design and emphasise the perception of speed and agility.
In comparison to the previous model, this Mazda3 has a longer wheelbase, further emphasised with its boldly flared fenders and larger diameter wheels which appear positioned as far as possible into the four corners of the vehicle. The front grill follows the design lines of the Mazda CX5 and Mazda 6 by incorporating Mazda’s signature wing in a grill which is situated low and with thick, bold horizontal bars to promote a feeling of KODO. The KODO styling sweeps down both sides of the Mazda 3 to the rear with its V shape window and sleek tail light assembly, The hatchback incorporates a roof spoiler while the sedan has a rear spoliler both of which seamlessly incorporate into the overall design.
The interior of the Mazda3, as with all Mazdas, shows a clear bias towards the driver and their experience. The cockpit is snug-fitting with everything at the drivers fingertips ensuring a true driving experience. With a newly developed heads up display and a new meter cluster design with its centrally positioned analog meter the driver is central to the overall experience.
In terms of size, the hatchback is the same length as the previous model (4.46 metres) while the sedan is 1cm shorter (4.58 metres). The wheelbase of both the sedan and hatchback is 6cm longer while in terms of width it is 4cm wider (1.795 metres) and in hight 1.5cm lower.
The overall package of the Mazda3 is guaranteed to ensure continued market success and leadership in terms of design and innovation of this iconic automotive brand.
For Australian customers the all new Mazda3 is expected to hit our shores in early 2014.
