Porsche 928 The Restoration Part 3
Porsche 928 The Restoration Part 3: Walking into the workshop and seeing the freshly resprayed Porsche 928 took my breath away. The sleek lines glistening in the dull light, the imperfections which belied the age of the vehicle now no longer, my car was one more step closer to completion.
Talking with the guys at Paint and Custom, I clearly see the passion that they have for their art and the care that they have taken in returning a modern day classic back to its former glory.
Looking at the Porsche 928 the restorationin its stunning glory takes me back to my youth when I first saw the Landshark in Hamiltons where it was heralded as the model to replace the famous 911. While the cost of restoring this icon will not be reflected in the sale price, I take heart in knowing that I have been instrumental in preserving what I consider to be one of motoring history’s grand tourers.
Over the next few days the Landshark will be reassembled with new seals, badges and decals (from www.928intl.com) to complement its stunning paint work.
The next stage of the Porsche 928 restoration will be its interior which is being rejuvenated so that it matches the outside. New seat covers are being made at Classic 9 Leather Shop (www.928leather.com) in the US with delivery due over the next fortnight and internal panels and head linings being repaired at Motorcraft Motor Trimmers in Coburg.
So the restoration continues………..
