Mazda CX-5 2015 Upgrade

Mazda have announced that the new Mazda CX-5 will be on sale in Australia from February 1, 2015. The Mazda CX-5, originally released in February 2012, has achieved sales of almost 60,000 vehicles at an average of almost 1,700 vehicles per month indicating the huge level of popularity for this vehicle.

The new Mazda CX-5 illustrates the continual evolution of the Mazda brand with some sharp internal and external styling changes such as the replacement of the front grille and front and rear headlamp assemblies, newly designed 19 inch wheels and two new duco colours. The new Mazda CX-5 will also incorporate new i-ACTIVSENSE technologies such as:

  • Adaptive LED Headlamps (ALH) improving visibility at night,
  • Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) supports the driver in steering the car,
  • Driver Attention Alert (DAA) monitors how the driver performs at speed
  • Smart City Brake Support (Forward/Reverse) (SCBS F/R) adds rearward detection to help reduce the likelihood of an accident.
  • Smart Brake Support (SBS) and
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control.

In addition the new Mazda CX-5 will incorporate MZD Connect which is marketed as Mazda’s next generation car connectivity system which incorporates a seven inch touch screen display operated by a centrally located control knob.

In addition to the cosmetic changes the new Mazda CX-5 the suspension has been modified to offer a smoother and flatter ride, and NVH improved as a result of “path blocking and concentrated sound absorption.”

The new Mazda CX-5 is available with a choice of three engines, the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 litre petrol engine, the SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre petrol engine and the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 litre diesel engine.

As a result of the new Japan Free Trade Agreement pricing of the new Mazda CX-5 has decreased. This is illustrated by the entry level CX-5 Maxx which in 2012 had a RRP of  $27,800 and now some three years later and with additional equipment the same model now has a RRP of $27,190.

Pricing for the new Mazda CX-5 ranges from $27,190 for the entry level Maxx (2 litre petrol FWD) through to $50,610 for the top of the line Akera (2.2 litre diesel AWD).
