Gran Turismo 6, to be released on 6th December 2013, will for the first time include the Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit, Bathurst as one of 33 circuits from around the world. Gran Turismo 6 offers the racer not only 33 circuits to choose from but 1,200 cars.

The inclusion of Bathurst, as it is more commonly known, is sure to delight die hard Gran Turismo fans while also enticing new racing aficionados into the stable. Bathurst’s racing heritage dates back to the 1938 Australian Grand Prix and more recently it has been home to the 1000 kilometre endurance races, now known as the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, held in October of each year.

The site of many a triumph and disappointment, Bathurst is not for the faint hearted. With its steep inclines and twisty narrow sections, Bathurst challenges even the most battle hardened of drivers. Known to some as Australia’s Nurburgring, Bathurst is the battle ground where Holden and Ford have fought for makers supremacy.

Bathurst will always be remembered for legendary races involving Peter “Perfect” Brock, in his Holden Torana, pitted against his nemesis Allan Moffatt in his Ford GT Falcon and more recently in 2012, the photo like finish between Whincup and Reynolds with Whincup reigning supreme by less than 0.31 of a second.

Incorporating next generation technology in its 3D model rendering and with their ever present attention to the fine detail the makers of Gran Turismo 6 have created an almost virual carbon copy of the legendary Bathurst track which will make the gaming experience truly asorbing not only for the driver but also their observing passengers.

As Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of Gran Turismo and President of Polyphony Digital Inc, recently said “It seems only right that the legendary Mount Panorama circuit is included as fans will now have a chance to drive one of the toughest tracks out there.”

While we wait for the release of Gran Turismo 6, we can sit back and enjoy the above featured video which pays homage to the place we simply know as “Bathurst”.
