From the Car 52 Where Are You? Police Academy, Hill Street Blues, Third Watch and Cops we at CarHq have always had an affiliation with American Patrol Cars and so it was with interest that we reviewed Dodge’s latest offering to the men and women in blue the 2015 Dodge Charge Pursuit.

2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit

Unlike police in Australia who utilise stock standard family sedans as patrol cars, in the states car companies actually purpose build patrol cars, such as the 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit, for law enforcement purposes.

The 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit features:

Engine

  • A 5.7 litre HEMI V8 engine (in both the Charger Pursuit and V8 AWD) which delivers 370 horsepower and a 0 to 100 ilm/hour time of less than 6 seconds or a 3.6 litre V6 which delivers 292 horsepower,

  • The Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD variant offers maximum all weather traction and fuel efficiency,
  • Improved and larger brakes,
  • Performance tuned suspension,
  • Load leveling NIVOMAT shocks with additional front suspension bushing durability improvement for rear wheel drive,
  • Heavy duty vented dic brakes (ABS),
  • Front and rear stabiliser bars,
  • 18 inch performance tyres on steel wheels,

  • Slide out boot tray which provides a stable and easily accessible platform on which can be installed the electrical equipment.
  • Boot air circulation fan to protect electrical equipment.
  • Siren speaker which is mounted behind the grille.
  • A new Dodge steering wheel with reprogrammable auxiliary buttons which can operate aftermarket police equipment,

Comparing what is offered to our members of law enforcement in Australia to those in the United States of America it is clear that we in Australia still have a long way to go.
